Viva Las Vegas

Well, I've finally made it to Vegas. We spent over two hours in rush hour traffic just to get to the airport with 5 minutes before it was too late to check my luggage and a line of probably 75 people in front of me. A kindly lady pointed me to the business class check in line with only three people ahead of me. I made it to the counter 40 minutes before my flight and was not allowed to check my luggage. Seems that I had to check in 45 minutes before my flight and if I checked in now, my luggage would make the next flight. So instead, I checked in for the next flight, five hours later and landed at 10:45 pm Vegas time instead of 7:29. I headed straight for the baggage claim and waited only ten minutes for the luggage to start rolling down the ramp (the Vegas airport is sooooo expedient, unlike the hour or more wait at Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson.) I watched each piece of luggage come down the ramp and when it stopped my luggage was nowhere to be found. We checked with Airtran official and was informed that I had to fill out a claim form and I'd probably get my bag the next morning. So I filled it out and waited to talk to an Airtran rep. Low and behold, my luggage made the original flight while I sat at the Atlanta airport for nearly five hours. What a waste. The Atlanta Airtran rep. was probably just pissed I had gotten into the short line and sent my bags ahead of me. Anyway, I'm here, I have all my bags and we're off to see what Vegas has to offer. Anyone out there able to bail my ass out of trouble?

Anyway, as I approached baggage claim, there was such a crowd that I wasn't sure if I'd ever find my friend but he found me even before I reached the carousel. It's been over 6 years since we've seen each other but it feels like only yesterday since I left him at the Atlanta airport headed due west. It was nearly midnight Vegas time, or 3 am Atlanta time, when we got to his apartment and we stayed up talking til 4 am. After just 5 hours of sleep we were off shopping. It feels just like old times. Tonight, we're getting together with my friends brother and his wife to see a bit of the strip. Fun, fun, fun. Catch up with ya later.
