and so it goes...

Well, the holiday depression is starting to set in, especially with all the commercialism starting the first of November these days, the Christmas shows on tv and all the other stuff going on around here, I'm battling to keep my head above water. The good news is that my plane tickets home to Pittsburgh have already be bought. It's been two years since I've been home and I'm really looking forward to the trip, especially the Ice Box cake with slivered candied almonds for my birthday (12-26 for all you who forgot, with the holiday rush and all).

So this depression had nearly engulfed me this past week and I had nearly given up on reaching my word count goals of 50k but last night I managed to reach 33,134 words. If I can reach 35k by Turkey day, it will all be down hill from there. Last year at this time I think I was not even at the halfway point and I managed to squeak it out at the last moment but I had more motivation last year; I was much more interested in my characters.

For all you WriMo's out there reading this, I do not recommend doing several short stories for NaNo. In the beginning I thought that if I got bored with one story line, I could work on another but in reality, you never really get fully involved with any characters in any one story during the 30 days so all the stories suffer. Live and learn. I'm just plodding along so that I might reach the goal.

Besides, I may have some good news in the near future so all hope may not be lost...
