Decisions, Decisions...
I've made a few decisions...
- I'm going to Paris next Spring.
- I'm going to sky dive - tandem style - out of an airplane for my 39½th birthday (end of June).
- I'm going to publish a book before October, this year.
- I'm going to finish and submit my screenplay by July, this year.
I've always wanted to go to Paris and since I can't find anyone who wants to go with me, I'll go by myself. I will celebrate my year anniversary on the j.o.b. the first of May next year and get two weeks of vacation. Since I can't take vacation during the holidays, I'm going to Paris for two weeks. Already started saving. The next step is to find really great deals on airfare and hotels so I can visit the museums, Eiffel Tower, restaurants, etc.. If anyone has suggestions for an itinerary, leads on cheap flights, can't miss restaurants, and great hotels, send them to me via this blog.
I'm turning 40 this year, so instead of retiring this old body, I'm going to rejuvenate it. Jumping out of a perfectly good airplane strapped to someone else's body ( a strong, hulking, good-looking, male body hopefully
) seems the best way to do that. Anyone care to join me? We get discount rates for a group over four. Anyway, I'm accepting early birthday gifts in the form of cash for the cause (checks or money orders will not be denied). You know where to send them. I'm going for the DVD recorded package as well so you'll have a chance to view the big day. I called for information today and as long as I book my jump within the next three weeks, I'll get an even bigger discount.
The other night, I kept having a phrase run through my head: "when I did this exercise, I was amazed at the scene I wrote." It kicked me in the butt to sit down and design an ebook that's been bouncing around in my brain; only now it's turning into a physical hard-copy self-publishable book. I plan to print a small run of several hundred copies and make them available in October for this years NaNoWriMo participants. I still want to make it into an ebook and sell on the web (do that first to raise money for publishing) and I suspect that if sells are good, someone like Putnam/Penguin will take notice. (I plan to submit to them once I'm finished with the manuscript and then again after sells take off.) I'm also going to teach a 4 week course based on the book in October so that this years NaNoWriMo-er's have a chance to work it before the November kick-off of National Novel Writing Month.
And there's just 6 days until the start of the first Annual Script!Frenzy. June is dedicated to rewriting my script and in July, I'll send off the first act and a synopsis to the production company in France. If I don't do it now, I'll never get published/produced. I'm not getting any younger. I'll just have to get over this perfectionism thing and send it out. After all, the worst thing that could happen is they say no or not even reply at all. No big deal. I said the same thing when I went for my casting call for Warm Springs and my face can be seen two-thirds of the way through the movie. And with that I got the added bonus of being an extra on Blue Collar TV with Jeff Foxworthy. I can't wait to see the added bonuses for writing a screenplay. Think Natalie Portman will like me?
Off to make dinner, and work on the book....
