Learning new tricks (woof woof)
I've finished reading Natalie Goldberg's Wild Mind and for the first time, I actually thought about what words I used as a writer. When I write, I just write. Which verbs I use; past tense, present tense, past present, I never really thought about it. I edited my work after I wrote it and kept everything in the same tense but I didn't realize the difference between each tense and how it moved the story along. I guess an old dog can learn new tricks.
I also met with a local writer and we've decided to form a writers group. I'm really excited about it. We're going to be very goal oriented about our writing careers and hold each other accountable to the goals we set for ourselves. My goal for the first meeting comming up this Sunday: 25 pages on my screenplay. Anyone care to join us?
