ramblings
We're nearly half way through this years NaNoWriMo and I've fallen behind in my word count. I should be at about 25,000 words and I am only at 12,046. I have Friday off so I hope to get a couple thousand in but as we get closer and closer to the holidays, my hours at work are going to get crazier and crazier. I'm still hopeful and my intention is to cross the finish line. I do have Wednesday and Thursday off next week (Thursday being Thanksgiving) so maybe I can get a ton of words written then.
And speaking of turkey day, I still haven't a clue what I'm doing. The roommate won't make any decisions and a repeat of last year will send me over the edge.
I've been really depressed over the fact I'll be working through the holidays and not able to make the trip home this year. The good news is that I will have my birthday off. If I could find cheap tickets to fly out Christmas Eve and return on the 26th or very early the 27th, I could make the trip but finding cheap tickets this time of year would be like trying to change the date of Christmas; impossible.
And today is my baby brother's birthday but I've haven't heard from him nor seen him in many years. I hope he's having a wonderful day. Happy 17th (I think) BJM.
Next week is the little brother's birthday. He's turning 25 (I think - I lose track of time so easily). Birthday wishes go out to you too JAM. Haven't seen or heard from him in several years either.

And last night, driving home, I saw a little brown head of a dog run out in front of my car. And yes, I hit it. I stopped, turned around and went back to see. All I could think about was having to knock on someone's door after dark to tell them I hit their little puppy. Luckily it had been a racoon, though I hate the fact that I hit it and killed it (it was gone when I drove past this morning so maybe I just stunned it. Hey, it could happen.) I'm just really glad it wasn't someone's puppy. I was devastated when my puppy was kidnapped for 24 hours. Luckily he found his way home and we're grateful he did. Never the less, I cried all the way home and gave my puppy a big hug when I got there.
Back to NaNo: my character has taken a job in Paris and lives there for three and a half years only I can't write any thing more than a general story line about it since I've never been to Paris. There is a book out there called "Live and work in Paris" only I haven't had any luck finding it. Hopefully I can find it soon or I'm going to have big chunks of my story missing. Anyway gotta go and work on my word count.
