Happy Birthday, My Dear Friend
Happy Birthday, my dear friend,
It's been so long, thought I'd never see you again,
after eighteen years, nary, not a word,
bits and pieces of you is all I heard,
All this time, a torch for me you carried,
in your heart, your love, you had buried,
relationships, one after another, you tried to sow,
but love for me you really wanted to know,
to interfere in my life you never wanted,
therefore, for me, you never hunted,
but lost and alone I often found myself to be,
to fall in love I always wanted to see,
and now, after all this time, we're reunited,
no longer do we have the urge to fight it,
but to leave me again soon you surely will
another heart attack will seal the deal,
but my love for you shall never fade,
a high price for love I willingly paid,
to see you again at the Pearly Gates,
to love is to surely tempt the fates,
so Happy Birthday dear, I shall always sing,
on this day, every year, you'll hear my voice ring,
to the Heavens I hope my voice will rise,
my love for you I will never disguise.
